Entezar
ENTEZAR emerged out of overwhelming feelings of frustration, anger, and helplessness resulting from the United States' declarations of war against the people of Afghanistan and Iraq. I have found the generalized disrespect for Arab and Islamic cultures – including art, architecture, mathematics, language, and literature - deeply disturbing. This piece, composed for solo guitar, developed organically over the course of several years - the longer the conflicts continue, the more compelled I feel to find ways – symbolically, at least – to knit together opposing forces in some harmonious way. ENTEZAR is a Farsi word meaning "waiting" or "longing". This work is dedicated to all of those who have been affected by hatred, fear, and violence in our post-9/11 world, and who even in moments of extreme darkness continue to hold a vision of peace and hope for the future.
Entezar will be on my next album of solo guitar pieces, but can be downloaded now for free in the player above.

What’s next, Wikileaks?
What’s next, Wikileaks?
What’s next?
Don’t stop now, we’re on the edge of our seats!
What’s next, Wikileaks?
What’s next, Wikileaks?
What’s next?
Don’t stop now, we’re on the edge of our seats!
You have to watch what you say or your words will haunt you.
Take extra care when you speak.
One of these days you just might find your foot stuck in your cheek.
With a flabby old chap and Hitler hobnobbin’
And a head of a snake and Batman and Robin
There’s just no place to hide your disgrace
You got egg all over your face.
The walls have ears
Is your conscience clear?
If you've got nothing to hide, you've got nothing to fear
The walls have ears
and the coast isn't clear
If you've got nothing to hide, you've got nothing to fear
Our friends are thin skinned, feckless and vain,
with a crazy old man and another just strange,
don't corner merkle, she'll become tenacious,
she's risk averse and rarely creative
Some are abysmal or taking their meds
while others won't keep their promises
get frequent flyer miles of Ban Ki Moon
his biometric data, we’ll need it soon
What’s next, Wikileaks?
What’s next, Wikileaks?
What’s next?
Our freedom of press, our freedom of speech?
What’s next, Wikileaks?
What’s next, Wikileaks?
What’s next?
Our freedom of press? our freedom of speech?
Don’t stress, free the press X2
Let the chips fall where they may
The truth will come out, ready or not
Fess up to what you say
Blaming the mirror for what you see
diverts the responsibility
To stifle the leak is just doublespeak
If you claim the press is free.
What’s next, Wikileaks?
What’s next, Wikileaks?
What’s next?
Don’t stop now, we’re on the edge of our seats!
What’s next, Wikileaks?
We cannot wait to know.
The cat is out of the bag so on with show
The world’s outraged and it’s no surprise
You’ve been accused of telling no lies
Protecting secrets is the job of the state
They’ve failed their job yet they’re irate
Now there’s a witch hunt
We’ve seen this before
They need someone to blame to even the score
Blaming the postman for the letter he brings is like
Blaming the weatherman for the wind
When it stings.

BUBBLE UP
Music by Julian Mock Lyrics by Nick Santoro
Bubble up, bubble up from the bottom
Bubble up, bubble up below.
Who poked this hole in the bottom,
Who poked this hole below?
Can’t stop this flow from the bottom,
Can’t stop this flow below.
Who poked this hole in the bottom,
Who poked this hole below?
Hey, stop sighin’.
Hey stop cryin’.
Hey stop drivin’.
Hey stop lyin’ to ourselves.
Don’t like this stuff on the beaches,
It’s stuck between my toes.
Don’t like this stuff in the wetlands,
This stuff has got to go.
You use this stuff from the bottom,
I use this stuff below.
We bought this hole in the bottom,
We bought this hole below.
Hey, stop sighin’.
Hey stop cryin’.
Hey stop flyin’.
Hey stop lyin’ to yourself.
Bubble up, bubble up from the bottom
Bubble up, bubble up below.
Who poked this hole in the bottom,
Who poked this hole below?
Can’t stop this flow from the bottom,
Can’t stop this flow below,
Who poked this hole in the bottom,
Who poked this hole below?
Hey, stop sighin’.
Hey stop cryin’.
Hey stop drivin’.
Hey stop flyin’ to yourself.
We killed life in the ocean,
We changed the life we know.
Who poked the hole in the bottom,
It’s us, don’t cha know?
We’re going down down down to the bottom,
There’s just one way to go
Stop using this stuff from the bottom
Or we’re all goin’ down below.
